Automatic Panasonic Bread Maker
66Panasonic Automatic Bread Maker
Baking bread at home has had something of a renaissance over the past few years. This has mainly been driven from the invention of reasonable cost bread-making home appliances. Due to this and the aim of waking up to the smell of fresh bread in the morning, I decided to purchase one of the best bread maker I could buy with my hard earned cash. So as usual before I make such a purchase I carried out my extensive review process online. Instantly I am bewildered by the available choice. Which manufacturer brand to choose, what size loafs do I need, available bread cycles, does it have a timer, do I want a dark or pale crust, Is a viewing window desirable, nut and fruit dispensers.
Makes and Models
There are a wide range of manufacturers, such as sunbeam, breadman, panasonic, kenwood, hinari etc. Each with their own special blend of makes and models of bread makers. Unfortunately to many differences to comment on in this single hub.
Cycles
This design option in bread machines seems to be the area the bread maker manufacturers focus on. In my mind there should be one or two cycles, cook break, make pizza dough. However, there seems to be option to make jams, quick soda breads, whole wheat, quick rapid bake ( fastbake), french bread, sweet bread, sour bread, cake, pasta..... okay, you get the message. These extra cycles are geared up to your family preference, so once you know what you want to bake choose a machine that works for you.
Crust color type
This feature allows you to control the brownness of the crust. Most bread makers come with three crust settings light, medium, and dark. I did see reviews which said that this setting did not do much on their machines.
Size of Loaf
Loaf capacities range from 1 pound to 2-1/2 pounds or to us people preferring metric 0.5 to 1 Kg.
Viewing window
This feature allows you to watch the bread cook and saves opening the bread machine lid at a vital point in the cycle to see if it is doing it , one disadvantage which a few reviews mention is that the glass allows for a bit of heat loss. This in turn can cause the bread to not be baked or browned fully on the top.
Breadmaker Choice: Panasonic SD-YD250
Of all the reviews it is hard to find a negative comment on the Panasonic automatic bread make
The panasonic automatic breadmaker SD-YD250 is one of the larger units around with a 1Kg loaf capacity. After use, it is very easy to clean due to the non stick bread pan container. The cycle options are basic/rapid bake, immediate start/timer delay, white/whole wheat/multigrain, sandwich (soft crust), crust color light/medium/dark, raisin (pause and beep to add fruit or nut, dough knead without bake, bake without dough knead. One of the best features of the panasonic bread maker is the extended 13-hour timer which allows you to set the ingredients the night before and wake up to fresh bread in the morning. Now all I have to do is find a hubs one bread making recipes and how to lose the excess weight I gain by eating all this lovely fresh, homemade bread.

Good review, Dr Wibble. This is indeed cream of the crop when it comes to bread making machines. No wonder a lot of people are so happy with this.

I have to agree. The Panasonic is a great machine. It does everything most people could want. It's sturdy and priced well to boot. It is one of the most popular bread machines out there for a reason.
